About Blue Skies

Who we are

Blue Skies started in 2011, with a group of committed volunteer activists in Missoula.  Within a year, we organized the largest climate-related civil disobedience in Montana history, contributing to the birth of a new kind of climate movement in this state. Today, we continue to run campaigns and build a movement to protect communities across Montana from coal export pollution.  Find out more about our story here.

What we’re up against

Coal exports threaten Montana’s environment, our public health, and the viability of our economy in a world that’s shifting to clean energy.  As if that’s not enough, Montana coal export projects are one of the biggest threats to the global climate anywhere on the planet.  Find out more about coal exports here.
