To stop coal exports and other destructive fossil fuel projects in Montana, we’ve got to get the money out of fossil fuel companies. Along with our ally organizations like University of Montana Climate Action Now and 350 Missoula, we’re pushing to divest corporate players and institutions in Montana from fossil fuels, and cut off the stream of investments at the source. Together, we can pull money out of the fossil fuel sector while dealing a major political blow to coal and other fossil companies. Join the movement for fossil fuel divestment:
Blue Skies is proud to support the Reinvest Montana coalition, a group of student organizations at the University of Montana who are pushing for university divestment. By pulling the UM Foundation’s investments in fossil fuel companies, and investing that money in projects that power a sustainable Montana economy, we can help ensure today’s students inherit a livable future on a healthy planet. Join the movement to divest UM from fossil fuels.
Forrest Mars Jr., heir to the Mars candy fortune, is one of the richest people in the United States – and he’s helping to fund Montana coal exports. Mars originally opposed the Tongue River Railroad coal transportation project, which would have cut through his Diamond Cross Ranch in Southeast Montana. But he eventually sold out to Big Coal, investing in the project and shortening the route so it wouldn’t cross his land. Blue Skies is using creative direct actions to highlight the link between Mars money and dirty coal. Join the campaign and sign up to hold an action here.
